Not so long ago high speed photography was more likely to be found in a University Lab than a back garden but thanks to the lovely people at Casio, of all places, you can now have a little bit of high science on your picnic table. The Exilim EX-F1 can shoot a 60fps burst of still images & video up to a whopping great 1200fps. This is only the first day I’ve been able to have a play with one but even the obvious pebble in a bowl of water yields cracking results. Hopefully even more glimpses into the ‘Blink & you’ll miss it’ world soon.

June has been a pretty beautiful month and the slightly dusty camera saw the light of day again at last. Particularly love the top shot of the two surfers post closeout session about to call it a day. More soon I promise.

There’s a Devonian saying which goes ”Oak before Ash, prepare for a splash. Ash before Oak, prepare for a soak”. Well judging by the number of Oaks in full leaf at the moment and the twiggy Ash trees, we could be in for a good summer.

Down amongst the trees in the garden of the Buddhapadipa Thai Temple, Wimbledon, London sits this wonderful hand carved Buddha. A corner of  early spring calm surrounded by the hubub & turmoil of the capital city.

I was just wandering back from lunch at our local when spotted these Scarlet elf cup’s in the hedgerow. Extraordinary colour on such a grey day, at first I thought they were bits of plastic! Will return to photograph them again soon.
Apparently they are edible but not sure I’m gonna fry these up with some garlic.

While the UK was grinding to a halt after it’s heaviest snowfall in 18 years I found myself a few hundred miles away in a land where a big dump of snow doesn’t seem to make the slightest bit of difference to anyone. Voss (North Of Bergen) was the setting for a week long snowboarding holiday. I took my tiny waterproof Vivitar just for snaps but captured this while sitting close to the trees at the end of the day.

North Devon has been in the firing line of some nippy North Easterlies lately. On a trip to Sandymouth yesterday the pebbles around the waterfall were encased in an icy shell, along with everything else lucky enough to have been doused in the spray, even seaweed was treated to the magic coating.

Boxing Day 2008 and I’m forced to watch from the shoreline as everyone else gets to surf. Sure it’s cold, sure I’m standing there coughing like a Pit Pony & sure it makes a change to be photographing surfers rather than wave riding ….but I was SO envious. God damn the Rhinovirus & all it’s hangers on. Anyway I told Joe (Above) he looked kind of ‘Heroic’.

For some unexplained reason my mate James takes a dislike to silhouettes but I’m quite a fan, here the Emo Kid is about to ‘Woop somebody’s ass’ in a kung foo stylee. In fact he was just trying to keep his feet dry (Something, I’m sure he won’t mind me saying, he failed at with his usual comical grace)

I know I’m going against the grain of popular opinion here BUT drizzle does actually have it’s plus side.
